Life Garland

Director | Editor

Life GarlandLife Garland is one of the most sought after music video directors in the industry. His extensive experience, tireless work ethic and creative prowess all but guarantee a quality product that showcases all his clients at their artistic best.

Before directing, Garland worked his way up through the ranks at Propaganda Films. Passionate about filmmaking, Life insisted on learning every aspect of the process. Thus, he put in time being everything from production assistant, working in art department, to first assistant director while in “training” at this prestigious and revolutionary production company. He worked under such A-list Hollywood directors as Antoine Fuqua, David Fincher, Mark Romanek and Michael Bay. Garland fondly refers to those days, at Propaganda, as his film education.

Ultimately, he took a very strong interest in post production. He felt that learning how to edit was essential in the pursuit of becoming a legitimate director. In what seemed like no time at all, Garland earned a reputation as a first rate Editor, gaining the trust of some of the biggest names in the business. His status was solidified in 2002 when he won the MVPA Best Editor award for his work on the Joseph Kahn-directed DMX “Who We Be”.

As a director, Life has tapped into a wealth of experience in every phase of the game and further extended those skills working with major and independent labels worldwide. He’s worked with heavy hitting artists such as Nelly, Lil Jon, Jermaine Dupri, Pretty Ricky, Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Pitbull, Ying Yang Twins, Mannie Fresh, Chingy and Twista just to name a few.

At the 2004 VMA’s he was nominated for best Rap Video for Lil Jon’s “Get Low” and in 2006 he won the coveted award for Chamillionaire’s “Ridin Dirty”. With his eyes set on commercials, television and feature films, Life is poised to tackle what ever comes his way.
